The KJR Mardi Gras Gang

The KJR Mardi-Gras Gang, September 1931.  The "Mardi Gras Gang" was the biggest program on KJR during the NBS years.  It was a live 90-minute variety show, with a cast  mostly drawn from the station’s regular staff.  It offered a variety of popular music mixed with skits featuring wacky comedic characters.  It  was a program concept that was also having good success at stations in other cities – such as the KGW “Hoot Owls” in Portland. Shown here are:  Jack Little, Thomas Freebairn-Smith, Herb Bartlett, Casey Jones, Bob Youse, Bob Monsen, Grant Merrill, Al Schuss, Olive Reynolds.
