Stars of the West

This was the cast of "Stars of the West", a program sponsored by Acme Beer on the NBC Pacific Coast Network in 1933.  Conductor Meredith Willson is standing at the left; Behind him is producer Donald Cope, and the Acme Quartet.  To the right of the microphone are announcer Paul Gates, Irving Kennedy (tenor), and Mary Wood (soprano).   The musicians include George Hall and Ray Herrington, saxaphone; Leonard Peterson, violin; and Charles Douglas, trumpet.  The scene is the main NBC studio at 111 Sutter Street in San Francisco.  The magazine article is from "Broadcast Weekly" magazine, 7/16/1933.  (Photo courtesy of Jack Bethards)
