Announcer Budd Heyde was a music major who planned to make a career as a theater organist. But when he graduated from college, talking pictures had replaced most theater organists, so Heyde instead became a radio announcer. Versatile and talented, Heyde hosted a variety of programs from children’s shows to historical dramas. His career with KPO, KNBC and KNBR spanned three decades.
