Harold Peary, along with Harrison Holliway and Al Cormack, was one of the founders of the original KFRC station in 1924. They sold it to the City of Paris department store in 1925, but all three came back to KFRC when Don Lee bought the station the following year. Starting out as a baritone singer, he had his own shows on KFRC and the NBC Pacific Coast Network. His big break came when he switched to comedy rolls and was cast as supporting character Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve on the "Fibber McGee and Molly Show". He later starred in his own network comedy spinoff show "The Great Gildersleeve".
