The KGEI Studios at the Golden Gate Exposition, 1939

 Image

The KGEI transmitter was built by GE specifically for the Golden Gate Exposition in San Francisco in 1939. As a shortwave transmitter it was a novelty for its time. It was originally operated under the amateur/experimental call sign W6XBE, changed to KGEI during the Exposition. Photo courtesy of FEBC.
