This artist's rendering of the KSFO tower and transmitter building (right) was shown in the station's 1942 souvenir booklet.
Located at Islais Creek on the Bay Shore, South of the Bay Bridge, this was also the site of the KWID shortwave transmitter during the war years, and the adjoining antenna complex occupied eleven acres.
The Western Electric 5,000 watt transmitter operated under the guidance of Transmitter Supervisor Al Towne, broadcasting the programs of KSFO to Northern California.
