Governor Culbert Levy Olson

Culbert Levy Olson

An address by California governor Culbert Levy Olson is picked up by KSFO for a CBS network broadcast.  Olson, the 29th governor of California, fought bitterly with the legislature and the Catholic Church because of his liberal and secular beliefs.  He was succeeded in 1943 by Earl Warren, to whom he said, "If you want to know what hell is like, just be governor."
