William S. Lynch was a up-and-coming NBC announcer, sportscaster, headquartered in Washington, DC. He introduced President Coolidge to the microphone on many occasions, and was known as the "Flying Announcer" because of his frequent broadcasts from aircraft. At right, he is seen broadcasting the arrival of the Graf Zeppelin in 1930.
Lynch's career was cut short when he died from a complication of appendicitis surgery in 1930 at the young age of 23.
